In the midst of all this the film courted another controversy with former Congress MLA from Parawada in Visakhapatnam district Gandi Babji launched an agitation in front of the theatres in Visakhpatnam in protest against naming of the villain after him in Nayak.

Nayak has villain Gandipeta Babji (Rahul Dev) and the MLA alleges that Mega Star Chiranjeevi and his political adversary Minister Ganta were behind it. He warned that if the name is not removed he will not allow Nayak screening in Northern Andhra. Buzz is Vinayak agreed to change the name after discussions with Gandi Babji.
