Election Commission of India has considered YSRCP as a recognized party in newly formed Telangana state. The EC gave recognition to YSRCP based on the votes the party got in the recent elections. With this YSRCP became the third recognized regional party in Telangana.
“YSRCP has completed all formalities stipulated by EC. So, we gave the party the status of a recognized party,” said Pramod Kumar Sharma, Under Secretary of ECI, in his orders.
“The party has fulfilled the conditions laid down under Para 6A of Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order 1968,” said the commission.
The commission also announced that it allotted fan symbol to YSRCP.Till now, there are only two regional parties (Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti) in the state. Now YSRCP joined the list as the third one.
Recently the party recognized by Election commission in Andhra Pradesh and now with this recognition it was identified as regional party in both telugu states. Following the recognition granted to the party, the ‘Fan’ symbol will be exclusively allotted to the YSR Congress Party in all elections in both states henceforth. With this, the anti defection law applies to YSRCP too and any MP or MLA can be disqualified if he or she changes a party.
