The first intervention by centre regarding an issue after bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has baffled CM KCR. It is a known fact that AP has demanded release of 10 TMC of water from Nagarjunasagar dam to meet the drinking water requirements of Guntur, Prakasam and Krishna districts.
However, KCR has reportedly kept the file pending. T-minister Harish Rao already said just 2 TMC’s of water is enough and alleged Andhra wants to siphon off water for irrigation in the guise of drinking water purpose.
Before AP could open gates by itself leading to tension, central water commission authorities rushed to Hyderabad and in a joint meeting with two states, they ordered Telangana to release 3.5 TMC feet of water for a week as a temporary move.
KCR is reportedly very much angry about this move and has conveyed his displeasure to Governor Narasimhan as to how can Centre dominate a state like this. Therefore, it looks like KCR has received his first shocker.
