Needless to mention the KCR has respect and reverence for Prof. Jayashankar who dedicated his life for Telangana movement selflessly. Not many knew that Jayashankar was a bachelor throughout his life and worked hard towards carving out of Telangana State. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2011 before Telangana state becoming a reality. As a mark of honour, TRS government is working to name a district on his name posthumously. It may be recalled that KCR had stated that present 10 districts of Telangana will be divided into 24 districts.
If reports are to be believed, Telangana first Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is mulling over to name one of its districts after Telangana crusader-late Kothapalli Jayashankar. KCR has reportedly directed officials over the formalities in renaming a district. Higher authorities are chalking out a plan regarding this. Although, there is no clue on which district will be renamed after his name, buzz has it that Warangal, home turf of Professor Jayashankar, is being considered.
