West Godavari: YSRC failed to win even a single Assembly seat out of 15.
East Godavari: YSRC won just 5 out of 19 Assembly seats.
Overall, YSR Congress managed to bag just 5 out of 34 MLA seats in Godavari Districts. Even all the 6 Kapu candidates fielded by YSRC in Lok Sabha segments got defeated. The worst part is the defeat of YSRC Candidate Thota Chandrasekhar, a Kapu, in Eluru Lok Sabha constituency (where Kapu community have 3.5 lakh votes) in the hands TDP candidate Maganti Babu with a margin of over 1 lakh votes.
On the other hand, YSRC won just 5 Assembly seats each in both Krishna (16) and Guntur (17) which were Kamma dominant districts. The count of YSRC in these two districts is 10 out of 32. Apparently, These four districts have been a defining factor in 2014 Polls. YSR Congress won just 15 out of 67 MLA seats and eventually lost the battle to TDP. The story would have been completely different if YSRC managed to bag at least half of the segments in these districts. The results hint people voted for development rather than caste factor and the impact of Pawan Kalyan too can’t be ignored.
