Prime Minister Narendra Modi is finally going to meet US president Barack Obama at the White House this month end. The dates have been finalized as September 29 and September 30. US is keen to reviving ties with India and meeting comes close on the heels. The White House in its statement said the talks would “deepen the US-India strategic partnership.” “Apart from discussing ways for accelerating economic growth, they will also focus on regional issues, including current developments in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, where India and the United States can work together with partners towards a positive outcome,” added the statement.

However, all was not well between US and Modi before. Modi had been refused US Visa twice when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. US Visa to Modi was denied over his alleged involvement in Gujarat 2002 riots. However, the Supreme Court of India ruled out his involvement in the riots and gave clean chit to Narendra Modi.

Despite this, US hasn’t come forward to give Visa to Modi until Opinion Polls predicted him as the next PM then. Now that Modi became India’s 15th PM, US is now going to roll out the red carpet for Modi.
