The Communist Party of India (CPI) blamed its alliance with the Congress party for its poor performance in the recently concluded elections. Narayana said, “CPI had badly lost due to its tie-up with the Congress. The results would have been different if the CPI would have contested the elections alone. The traditional vote bank of Congress did not vote for the CPI candidates and the party suffered a jolt due to anti-incumbency factor.”
Narayana alleged that all political parties including the CPI (M) have used money power to change the results in their favour. He claimed that his allegations against the CPI (M) were not baseless.
