Congress party MP Shashi Tharoor received setback on Monday for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has sacked Shashi Tharoor from his spokesperson post after listening to the allegations made by his party colleagues. Kerala Congress leaders were frustrated by Tharoor’s frequent admiration of Narendra Modi.
The two time MP after being nominated by the Prime Minister for Swachh Bharat campaign wrote in his column on ndtv.com, “Which Indian worthy of the name would not be humbled to be tapped by his PM for a national cause?” He further wrote that Mr Modi “had been effective in using his Prime Ministerial position” to drive change from the top. A congress publication in Kerala compared him to “Siberian migratory birds who come looking for optimum climate.”
The action against the 58 year old MP comes at a time when fresh evidence has surfaced in his wife Sunanda Pushkar’s death even though Congress denied it has nothing to do with the case. However BJP criticised Congress for not learning its lesson.
Tharoor reacting to the news said he accepts the decision of the party president as a loyal worker of the Congress.
