Telangana Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Thursday advocated empowerment of Panchayats and other local bodies for the effective growth of rural areas and villages.
Speaking to media persons after assuming the charge at the State Secretariat, KTR said that the TRS Government believes in decentralization of power which would enable the local representatives to set their own priorities and resolve the problems being faced by the people. He said that the government would focus on providing safe drinking water the flouride affected villages in the State. He said stress would be laid on improvement of roads, health and other facilities in the villages across Telangana.
The minister appealed to the officials and government staff to extend their full cooperation in the implementation of welfare and developmental schemes. He said that the government would not hesitate to take action against officials found guilty of dereliction of duties.
KTR also dismissed reports that the Information Technology industry was contemplating to shift to Andhra Pradesh. He said that Hyderabad-based IT companies would not only continue their operations, but would make further investments for expansion and upgradation of existing units. He said new areas of Telangana would be developed as IT hubs and the prestigious Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) region would be completed. He said that the TRS Government proposes to create 15 lakh direct and 35 lakh indirect jobs in the next five years through IT.
