Comedian turned hero Sunil’s previous release Bhimavaram Bullodu was an average fare. Sunil is in dire need of scoring a hit at this point. After contemplating with many subjects and directors, he decided to do Bhakta Kannappa movie under Tanikella Bharani direction.

Going by the title anyone would think that Bhakta Kannappa is a remake of Krishnam Raju’s devotional classic. But Tanikella Bharani’s Bhakta Kannappa has got nothing to do with that film it seems. This film is a romantic comedy based on a tribal guy said sources. Although Tanikella Bharani’s talent as director was evident with Mithunam, his idea of making a romantic comedy with this title may not go down well with the ticket paying public.

Bhakta Kannappa title will give wrong ideas to people who are aware of Krishnam Raju’s classic. If Sunil and Bharani are hell bent on using this title for their film, they should go the extra mile in making people know that this is an entirely different film and is not connected with old Bhakta Kannappa in anyway.
