Sekhar Kammula stands out as a prominent director in Tollywood, the Telugu film industry. He emerged at a time when commercial potboilers dominated the scene. Kammula, however, dared to be different, offering audiences a breath of fresh air with his brand of sensible cinema.

His signature style lies in crafting breezy romantic entertainers that resonate with viewers. He weaves relatable characters into simple yet poignant narratives, drawing the audience into the emotional tapestry of his films. Movies like “Happy Days,” “Godavari,” “Anand,” “Fidaa,” and the recent “Love Story” all exemplify this signature touch.

Currently, Kammula is engrossed in his bilingual project titled “Kubera.” This high-budget production features Dhanush in the lead role, with Nagarjuna playing a pivotal character. Produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP under the banner of Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, the film boasts music by the renowned Devi Sri Prasad. The title glimpse itself has generated immense buzz among fans.

Kammula recently interacted with the media on the occasion of the re-release of “Happy Days.” During this interaction, he unveiled his plans for a much-awaited sequel: “Leader 2.” Highlighting the enduring appeal of “Happy Days,” he elaborated on the unsuccessful attempts to develop a sequel for that film. However, he reassured fans with the exciting news that a “Leader” sequel is indeed in the pipeline. He emphasized that the sequel will only be made with Rana Daggubati, the lead actor from the original film.
