Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu have constituted respective committees to look after the possibilities of waiving the farmer loans as promises in their election manifestos. Congress senior and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao demanded Naidu and KCR to apologize with farmers for their failure to honor the promise on waiving off farm loans.
“Naidu and KCR have cheated the farmers by promising that their agricultural loans would be waived off. However, their failure to fulfill the promise has put the farmers in a new problem. The banks are about to include farmers in the defaulters’ list and they were not in a position to seek fresh loans for the Kharif season.
SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya’s statement over agricultural loans waiver promise is threatening the farmers to pay their loans. Naidu and KCR should pressurise Centre or seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention on the issue,” VHR alleged.
