Another issue is set to become the bone of contention between Andhra and Telangana. There is an official body of the State called, ‘Andhra Pradesh Remote Sensing Applications’ which deals with suggestions to the government based on satellite images of the weather scenario. Recently, KCR convened a meeting of this organization. But the head of the organization, the ‘Director-General’ did not turn up for the meeting and sent a junior officer instead.
Infuriated at this, KCR promptly had the organization renamed as ‘Telangana Remote Sensing Applications’ and appointed IAS officer, BP Acharya as the Director-General whereas AP appointed its own body. So far, so good! But when it came to division of assets, KCR was in for a shock!
He discovered that the Rs 3 crore deposits of the organization along with another Rs 20 crore earmarked for works-in-progress had already been transferred to a private bank in Vijayawada and is now the official property of the AP government. There is little hope now of getting the funds from AP. The issue is expected to come up for discussion between the officials of both States, but until then, KCR can do little about it except cursing the concerned officials, at his farm-house in Medak.
