Eight months after he was arrested on charges of raping and sexually harassing a woman colleague. Tarun Tejpal, the founder-editor of Tehelka magazine hounded by the UPA government has been granted regular bail at last.
The UPA government which used Tehelka and Tejpal to malign the last NDA govt with scams and sting operations against Bangaru Lakshman and George Fernandez had not come to his succor when Tejpal was held by BJP govt in Goa. The Supreme Court granted bail to 51 year old senior journalist on Tuesday morning. He has been on interim bail since May 19th and allowed to attend his mother’s funeral and perform the last rites. The apex court also asked the trial court to complete the trial expeditiously, preferably within eight months from today.
Tejpal has been charge sheeted for allegedly raping, sexually harassing and outraging the modesty of a junior colleague during an event held at a hotel in Goa in November last year and arrested on November 30, 2013.
