The report revealed by NCRB exposed some stunning facts about crime rate in Andhra Pradesh.2,484 murder cases were registered in 2013 in the United AP making the state front runner than other states in the country. The statistics released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) pertain to the undivided state. After AP our neighboring state Tamil Nadu stands second in such murders with 316 cases.
What is more shocking is 15% of these murders i.e., about 385 cases are due to extra-marital or love affairs. At least one person was killed every day in the state due to these reasons in the last one year. In undivided AP, the other reasons for murders are killed by robbers (240 people), Property disputes (152 murders), Personal reasons (230). 15 victims were murdered suspecting witchcraft and Political killings were 12 in the year 2013.
The north-eastern states Sikkim, Nagaland and Manipur recorded no such murders in the past year. Not only that the state has earned the dubious distinction of having high number of flesh trade related cases.The statistics show that united Andhra Pradesh stood second in terms of number of prostitution cases in the country. Out of 2,541 prostitution cases booked in India, As many as 489 flesh trade-related cases were booked in Andhra Pradesh only.Tamilnadu holds the top spot with as many as 549 prostitution cases registered last year.
Flesh Trade is at a high rate in places like Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Cops inform there was almost 50% increase in number of prostitution cases in 2013 when compared to 2012.
