Chandra Babu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will soon fly in new helicopter and jet when he sets out for tours across the state. According to the sources AP Government decided to acquire helicopter and a jet plane by spending a whopping Rs 150 crore. Currently CM Naidu is flying in private carriers.
Even Telangana CM KCR decided to acquire helicopter for his air travel. Insiders say Naidu will be using the airplane only for international tours. AP Government asked officials to come with the estimates. Chandra Babu is yet to decide on the size and capacity of the plane. He will decide based on the estimates of various sizes of aircraft.
Undivided AP used to have Augusta Westland (AW-139) helicopter, which was destroyed in a fire accident at Begumpet in December 2012 along with five other trainer aircraft. The chopper was insured and recently National Insurance Company released the insurance amount of Rs 68crore after two years of the crash. The amount will be divided between AP and Telangana in 58:42 ratio.
