Samsung is known for lagging behind its counterparts when it comes to releasing software update to its flagship and popular devices. It started seeding Android Marshmallow months after rival companies did, thus disappointing its fans. But reports have claimed that the company is planning to be prompt in bringing Android 7.0 Nougat update to its devices, including the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5 and others.

It has been reported that the Samsung Galaxy S7 was spotted on the official GFXBench online database with Android 7.0 Nougat. There were also reports that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge were undergoing the OS testing in Poland, sparking off speculations that the firmware might come to Samsung’s flagship device soon.

However, it is reported that the South Korean technology giant is still testing Android 7.0 Nougat on its devices and it may take a few months before it is finally ready for release. It has now emerged that Samsung might start seeding the new firmware to its flagships by the end of this year or early next year.

Only a few devices, namely the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Android One have received the firmware update so far.

Samsung hasn’t announced the list of devices eligible for the new OS, but it is almost certain that its flagships like the Galaxy S7 Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S7 Batman edition, Galaxy S7 Olympic edition, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy S6 Ironman edition, and Galaxy S6 Active will get it.

There are also possibilities of Samsung seeding Android 7.0 Nougat update to some of its popular devices from Galaxy A, Galaxy J, Galaxy On, and Galaxy C series but nothing is certain at the moment.

The new operating system from Google boasts of features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, Extra power efficiency, Google Assistant, VR interface, Seamless updates, Data saver, Improved file browser, Instant Apps, bundled notifications, and improved Java 8 language support.
