Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has announced that it would start rolling out Google’s latest operating system Android 7.0 Nougat early next year.
Huawei will bring its new EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat in the first quarter of 2017, according to GSM Arena. The new firmware is expected to come first to the Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 before expanding to Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 lite, Huawei nova, and Huawei nova Plus.
Going by the report, the Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 may receive the new operating system as early as January 2017 or before the end of March.
Motorola, Sony and LG are the only OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) that have seeded the Android 7.0 Nougat to its devices after Google released the firmware to the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Android One a couple of months ago.
Android 7.0 Nougat comes with features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, VR interface, Seamless updates, Screen Zoom, Extra power efficiency, Google Assistant, Clear All, Data saver, Improved file browser, bundled notifications, improved Java 8 language support, Instant Apps, App switch and new emojis.
