Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has called on all cable operators and demanded for ban on telecasting TV 9 and ABN Andhra Jyothi channels in state. Yesterday, All India Newspaper Employees Federation (AINEF) led by Ch Purnachandra Rao condemned the ban. Surprisingly, actor cum director R Narayana Murthy hailing from Mallampet of East Godavari district is backing KCR’s decision.
At his Rajyadhikaram movie press meet in Hyderabad, Narayana Murthy said, “According to me KCR has taken a good decision. Media is going to wide extent for TRP ratings. They should not air those programs insulting culture, language, slang of any perticular region. They should make programs to inspire people.” Narayana Murthy supported state bifurcation and made a film based on Telangana freedom fight.
Long ago, in his interview to ABN Andhrajyothi when host Vemuri Radhkrishna puzzled him on cashing on ongoing agitations, he fired on the channe MD saying, “I am not making films to make money. In fact I am in debts even after delivering few blockbusters. Media has become commercial now-a-days and you people are sensationalizing everything for TRP ratings. Then, who according to you is making use of situations?”
One wonders why Narayana Murthy is supporting KCR on the issue just before to release of his Rajyadhikaram.
