The relationship of cinema industry with politics is like a husband caught between his mother and wife. Both are right in their own stand but the brunt is borne by him. Similarly, whenever something happens in politics, the effect is felt by the entertainment industry. This is the situation right now in Tamil Nadu.
Apparently, the arrest and imprisonment of AIADMK boss Jayalalithaa fondly known as Amma has cast some grey clouds over the Kollywood films. Bandhs are happening frequently and the AIADMK party members are creating enough ruckus. Given the fact that they are ruling party, their power has doubled.
This has led to tension for new releases especially the big budget ones. Notable among them are Kamal Haasan’s ‘Uttama Villain’ superstar Rajnikanth’s ‘Lingaa’ and director Shankar’s magnum opus ‘I’. The senior Kollywood members are stating that if the environment is like this then release is difficult. This will inturn affect the release of small and medium budget films as well. That is Amma effect.
