Ahead of the first budget session of Union Cabinet, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has held a special meeting with State MPs of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha cutting across party lines. Naidu explained the condition of State to MPs and asked to them to act in unison in Parliament. It is learnt that already a representation is given to Union Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda on the expectations, needs of the new State from Centre. Chandra Babu has asked MPs to prepare such other representations to other ministries and asked them to submit much before budget session.
Chandra Babu Naidu told MPs to act firm on the financial assistance to the State from Centre. As part of the first phase, Babu said Rs 5000 Crore token fund is needed to set up capital of Andhra Pradesh whereas more could be demanded in the next phase. Although Centre assured of financial assistance to the State, it hasn’t announced the amount. So, Babu told MPs to not to act according to party lines but to act in unity in getting funds to State from the Centre.
BJP MPs and Congress MPs (Rajya Sabha MPs) have attended the meeting with Chandra Babu. Despite repeated requests, YSRCP MPs choose to skip the meeting and sent signals that it would act against to State government in Parliament. This drew criticism from political analysts to common man. TDP alleged that YSRCP is acting against the development of State. Babu expressed happiness over the fruitful meet and said he will be meeting MPs of all parties once in every month from now onwards. Babu asked everyone to work in tandem to turn around Seemandhra into Swarnandhra.
