US marines eliminating dreaded Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden smoking him out of his hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan captured the imagination of people across the world. US action reminded one of many Hollywood action entertainers.
However mystery over his body remained for long. Now even that secret is out following former CIA director and defense secretary Leon Panetta’s book ‘Worthy Fights: A Memoir of Leadership in War and Peace’. Leon Panetta made a startling revelation that Osama bin Laden’s body was kept in a heavy black bag of 300 pounds of iron chain and dropped into the sea.
He said as per plan US marines transported the body to aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and after his last rites according to Islamic traditions, body was placed in a heavy bag along with three hundred pounds of iron chains. The table on which the body was placed was tipped over to drop it into the sea and the measures were taken to ensure that the body would sink. His book is available in the market today.
