The voter turnout in 2014 Polls has surpassed the previous highest (64.02) recorded in 1984-85 Elections that took place after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi-led Congress won the polls with a huge majority. Thanks to the sympathy wave! Narendra Modi who is happy with the huge turnout comments, “The biggest joy of 2014 Elections has been the increased turnout. Braving the scorching heat & the rain people turned out in large numbers.”
Obviously, the record voter turnout would benefit NDA which is riding on the Modi wave and UPA on the other hand will have to accept the defeat once the results were declared on May 16th.
