In the back drop of yesterdays Kakatiya Techno school disaster which led to death of 16 school kids when a train rammed into it, the transport department has conducted surprise checks and raids on all school buses in Ten districts of Telangana.
According to Transport ministry sources so far 120 school buses have been seized including 45 in Ranga Reddy district for various lapses and violations. The surprise raids were ordered last night by KCR when he was informed of the violations in the school bus by the management which would reduce the railways compensation package to victims.
Telangana state CM has already has issued directions to officials of RTA and also the transport ministry to ensure that all school buses followed the procedures and trained drivers were appointed and also certified buses were used.
Police and motor vehicle inspections on the ill fated Kakatiya school bus shows that the driver lost his nerve and in his fright failed to move the bus which otherwise could have saved some lives.
‘Driver had died instantly out of shock after the train rammed and pushed the bus on the track. Had he even braked or accelerated the vehicle he would saved lives’ said a member of the RTA cum railway inspection team.
